Old Man Winter
Well, he’s finally come to call on us here in NC…
It’s turned out to be somewhat of a non-event event… sorta’.
Winter weather has become a kind of a tradition of panic and hysteria in the south… and with good reason.
Snow in North Carolina isn’t exactly the same as snow in the northeast. Don’t believe me? Ask anyone who’s into skiing. And when it hit’s the roads, it’s no where near the same as snow anywhere else.
It’s kinda’ funny though… The folks from the northern states look at the little bit of snow and ice we get and laugh at it. Then the newbies to our snow and ice end up being the first ones on the side of the road or in an accident. Because there is so little of the stuff on the road, folks get over confident. But our the combination of snow precipitation and road surface and temperatureslet the stuff turn onto ice REAL quick… and ice being the great equalizer that it is…
So, we did get some snow, some ice and some sleet… but it quickly got neutralized by rain in our area. By mid morning it was mostly just cold wet rain. Bonus.
Needless to say, I haven’t been getting much done in the way of studio build activities.
I’m still waiting on a couple of pieces of gear to arrive. The Brent Averill 1073’s should be here sometime today! so, I gotta stick close to home and sign for em’… so much for running out for lumber…
Duke Energy and the cable company have stopped by again. There’s a couple of lines of orange paint down, marking out the lines coming to the house. Although there’s one odd looking branch leading from the pole to the front yard. I’m positive it’s a Duke Energy paint line, but our power comes in overhead to a transformer on a pole. I’m wondering if it’s not the power going down to the well or what. It’s likely not a septic pump as we’re gravity fed on the septic system as far as I can tell.
I’ve got a big briefcase gig this weekend, so I’ve been trying to get some things ready for that as well. So between the day gig, the briefcase gig and the weather… not much is getting done until Sunday.
I am gonna fax an order over to Builder’s Discount. If the prices look good, I’ll have them try to deliver the lumber ASAP… either today, Saturday or Monday.
WOOOO HOOOOO!!!!
