ANOTHER 16 Tons and What Do You Get?
Hopefully a full bed for the lounge pad to sit in… THAT’s what!
That’s right… I need ANOTHER 16 tons of 6/7 gravel. Well… I take that back. I don’t NEED 16, it’s more like 10-12. Again, I have a 5′ wide handicapped walkway to put in and a 16x 30 parking pad to put in, so it’s not like it’s gonna go to waste.
I’m actually contemplating doing a little extra on that handicapped walkway…
If I pour a solid pad from the firepit to the studio, it might make it a bit easier to do stuff like set up a buffet, clean the studio, etc. Still just thinking about it… I’d have to rethink the wife’s plans for a planter at the front of the pit… Oh man, looking at that pic… I need to clean those leaves up, cut back the cana lillies and tie the climbing roses back up! (It NEVER ends, does it!?!)
The block mason will be here sometime this morning. I just hope the gravel gets here before he does.
The plumbers are scheduled to be here today as well to set the plumbing;
The pipes are almost in place. They’re sitting toward the corner too far, by a couple of feet. The pipes are also a LOT higher than what they originally set, too… I think.
This is all a bit tricky with the lounge. I tamped the gravel, but had to get the tamp back before I had a chance to tamp the crush-n-run. Because temps have been so cold, the top of the rock has been freezing. There’s also portland cement in the makup of the stuff. We’re hoping it’ll thaw enough to tamp and compact before the top bed of 6/7 goes on top. Otherwise, it’s gonna have to wait until warmer weather to do the pour, and I’ll have to cover the whole thing with plastic until that happens to keep the water off of it…
The termite treatment was done yesterday afternoon. So that’s finally out of the way! The block and plumbers are next!
Last night, I got the last of the expansion joint in that I could. There’s only the doorway and the big opening wall to install. I’ll get those tomorrow morning before the concrete contractor comes in to set poly and rebar WITH saddles. I made up enough expansion “sandwich” to do what’s left.
I’m kinda’ irritated with the guy at Lowe’s. I’ve got just over half of the ceiling tile left! We were working the numbers and he evidently forgot to divide by two. Either that or somehow he multiplied by two… I was contemplating putting gypsum up in the basement of the house. If they refuse to take it back, I guess I’ll be putting in a drop ceiling… and a drop ceiling in the electronic shop. (The little building on the left)
