The Short Row, Before the Last Long Row…

Had a really interesting conversation the other night about the patchbay placement, and I will probably reconfigure, so that the two patchbay’s are next to each other on the left side of the console.
It will eliminate a couple of cable runs, that would be kinda’ tricky to pull off… and more importantly, will save the […]

Isolation is a Good Thing - Part 5

Well, the desks are sanded and the first coat of stain is on…
Typical of pine, the first coat is orange-ish… this too shall pass.
(Thankfully it’s not this orange in real life)

Sand Traps

Finished 90% of the physical build on the console and producers desks… e.g. the carcasses are done and what’s left is trim… so it’s time to start sanding and staining.
As in my past furniture making experience, all surfaces were sanded with 150 and 220 grit paper. Then all horizontal surfaces sanded with 400 and final […]

Merry Christmas

We wish you each a quiet and peaceful Merry Christmas.
Here’s some pix over the last couple of days… (It looks like maybe I can actually add pix again.)

Webhost Issues

Well… my web hosting company, Host Complex, has royally screwed up my website and the blog… I can’t upload any files at this time…
Host Complex has been my domain web host for about 10 years. Periodically, things happen and there’s a glitch or a minor issue.
Sure it’s frustrating, but they’ve usually taken care of an […]

Isolation is a Good Thing (Parts 1, 2, 3 & 4)

Sam was able to stop out for the day, so we jumped on the iso boxes.
We got a good bit of the Hardie Backer cut to size and got it installed in the iso boxes. With the impending weather, I decided to take advantage of having help, and turned to milling the cedar for the […]

WE ARE ROCKIN’ AND ROLLIN’!!!!!

12/17/09 2:20PM
The county fire marshal showed up just a few minutes ago, with the fire chief from my local fire dept.
They went through the building and made a couple of comments… First, the placement of extinguisher’s was 6″ too low. I’ll need to raise them to the minimum height of 24″. He said that as […]

Nailing It

Not much progress yesterday.
I got the bathroom painted, then jumped on trying to finish the doors.
My Porter Cable angled finish nail gun’s been acting a bit ugly…. but yesterday, it finally went belly-up and can barely drive a nail in pine!
I immediately looked up Porter Cable’s website and called the number they have listed for […]

FM Doesn’t Mean Radio

JUST got off the phone with the Fire Marshal’s office… The county spec is one ABC 5 or 10 lb extinguisher every 75 feet.
My original plan was for one 10lb at the Iso Booth door, one in the hall at the Tracking Room door, One in the Control Room, one at the Server Room door […]

Getting Closer!

I’m still digging out from under all this sawdust, but soon enough, I hope to have a lil’ gear porn fer everyone!
OK, a bit of an update…
I contacted the Fire Marshal’s office to get the skinny on what all I need to have done, to be compliant. The fire marshal I needed to speak to […]
