Another Red Letter Day!
The concrete contractor and I discussed what to do and when.
Considering that the footing inspection failed because the soil was soft in the low corner, he decided to come out and dig another 8″ step-down.
I called Ken about 1:30PM to see when he thought I should order the sand for the inside of the studio. […]
Interesting Day… kinda’
Just so you know, I’ve been updating the blogs about a day behind most of the events.
Today, I’m covering a few days of events and a tad of a summary.
The email server at the day gig had a hard drive meltdown on Tuesday morning, so being the Systems Admin, I had to put that beast […]
It Figures…
So much for being ahead of the game.
It seems that there’s a bit of conflict and confusion about the AFG-10 Perimeter Expansion Board Rod called for in the concrete slabs.
I talked to the national sales director at Mason Industries. It seems that indeed, Mason Industries no longer makes the AFG-10 Perimeter Expansion Board, and hasn’t […]
Getting closer…
I’ve about gotten the central “pit” in the Control Room filled. I put just about 9″ of sand on top of the pipes. Then we put 6″ of gavel on to of that to stabilize the pit area.
I compacted the sand approximately every wheelbarrow’s worth of layer. That ended up being about every 2″.
Thomas came […]
Happy Thanksgiving!
Today is a national holiday for giving thanks.
We all have much to be thankful for, EVERY day. I just wish all of you who celebrate Thanksgiving, a moment of time to actually sit down and be thankful for what you have.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
(The pounding of sand will continue tomorrow!)
A Little Deeper Still…
Well… the sand was delivered right on time!
All 10 cu. yards of it!
I talked with the concrete contractor about dropping it inside the building. He reminded me that we probably ought to put some gravel in the pit to stabilize the sand. So, I decided to have the driver put the sand where he dropped […]
Deeper in the Sand!
I finished off moving the 6 yards of sand last night… and STILL haven’t made a dent in the “pit” under the Control Room!
I called for 10 more yards of sand yesterday morning. It’s going to be delivered at 7:30am.
They are calling for rain Thursday (Thanksgiving Day) and then again on Monday and Tuesday of […]
In the Sand Trap
Oooof… pounding sand in a hole ain’t very fun… and it takes a long time to fill it up.
I’ve shoveled about 2/3 of the sand and I’m still convinced it’s gonna’ be about 20 cu yards of sand.
It’s not very exciting to look at, so I won’t bore anyone with pix of sand… yet.
I will […]
2 Down - 396,487 to go!
WOO HOOOOO!!!!
Inspection number two is under the belt…
We got the under pad inspection passed!!!
We did have to chip away the footer to get the one pair in.
Next stop… Poured Concrete!
I called the concrete contractor and left him a message that we have passed the inspection and that I should have the sand compacted around […]
Day Fifty Seven
A really unusual day…
I had actually thought that it was going to be a slow Monday. Boy was I wrong!
The pest control service was scheduled for routine spraying on the house for 9AM. The tech shows up early. Good, now I can bail out and get to the day gig… WRONG!
He had just finished spraying […]
