Slow but steady goin’…

I LOVE and I HATE scaffolding…
I love the fact that I’ve got a couple of bucks so I can get the work done, but I still haven’t gotten my “sea legs” as it were… Still pretty shaky up there… but we’re moving on.
So, this is where we started this morning.
We managed to move […]

Hmmmmm….

I physically haven’t made much progress at all this week, which seriously stinks. But it looks like I’ll at least get something accomplished Sunday. My buddy Razor’s coming over about 9AM to help.
The “plan” is to finish putting the housewrap on the north side, and get the soffit/fascia framing up. If we can get that […]

Well, now I’ve gone and done it…

Well…
There’s a BIG update on things I need to go through…
First, I went to Nashville to meet with Gil Gowin of DigiDesign to demo the D-Control system. I had mentioned this in a thread over on The Womb and one of the most respected mastering/audio engineers in the business, Mr. Bob Ohlsson, […]

FINALLY!! Some progress!

Well, my buddy Ray was willing to come over and heft, tote and slather caulk… so that’s exactly what we did today…
Here’s our starting point:
And here’s where we ended:

I will go back tomorrow and put the final Housewrap layer on and then seal the staples and seams. Hopefully, I’ll get a good bit of […]

Day 4

Well, not much progress… but progress none the less.
I managed to get the scaffolding up and put together.
*NOTE* When ordering scaffolding, be sure to either order the locking pins that hold the wheels and sets of frames to each other. You can easily substitute bolts and nuts, but the locking pins are probably a better, […]

The quest for sonic nirvana… Going to Gear Slut Heaven

Well… isn’t the search for sonic nirvana why we do this?
If you’ve been keeping up with the diary, you already know that I’ve been in a serious quandry over what to do for a console/worksurface. This is as serious of a decision as any other when it comes to putting a studio together… possibly one […]

Official Day 1

What can I say but, that I started out 5 years ago on the quest to find a piece of property where we could build a studio to track and mix projects from mobile recording. The old house/property was just too small and the county we lived in, is anti-business, high taxes and far too […]

Let the fun begin!

Quick update…
I ordered two bucks of scaffolding. They are supposed to be delivered today! I ordered the two sets of 5′x5′ frames, 8 wheels and four leveling jacks.
That means that once they’re here, I can actually get started on the exterior of the building… but keepin with the tradition of this thing… we’re expecting some […]

It’s almost official

It seems that there’s another step before I can actually break ground…
There’s a site inspection that is done by the inspectors.
I’m told that it’s to make sure that the jobsite and the area are correctly marked off, no infringements, etc…
Hopefully that will get done this week… maybe.
Regardless… at least the permit’s been issued:

Red Letter Day!

I just got off the phone with the County Inspections Office…
The permits have been signed off!!!
WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I’ll go downtown tomorrow morning and pay my fees and get the permit. Man… what a relief!!! This has been the 4 longest years of my life trying to get this studio going. Now, the fun REALLY begins.
I’ve already […]
